Internet Society Awards Grants To Nine Community-Based Programs That Expand Internet Use Around The World

Nine community-based initiatives that advance Internet access, leadership, education, and development have been selected to receive a grant from the Internet Society. Internet Society Community Grants are awarded twice each year and recipients receive up to US$10,000 to implement their projects.

Internet Society Announces Reappointment of Maarten Botterman to PIR Board of Directors

The Internet Society today announced that Maarten Botterman has been reappointed to the Public Interest Registry (PIR) Board of Directors for a three-year term, beginning June 6, 2012. Maarten Botterman has previously served as Chair of the PIR Board of Directors.

Over 250 participated with our speakers from different regions in Asia Pacific to get ready for IPv6.  The IPv6 extravaganza combined World IPv6 Launch,  the IPv6 in Action project and the annual IPv6World:Asia conference. IPv6: The Way Forward for Singapore

The Internet Society Singapore Chapter, along with IPv6 Forum Singapore with sponsorship from Progreso, organized an introductory workshop for IPv6 on 28 May 2012 in preparation of the World IPv6 Launch on 6 June. The workshop, attended by representatives from various organizations, introduced IPv6 main features and how it would affect the IP networks.

Internet Society Liberia Chapter Champions the Empowerment of Girls and Young Women in Liberia Through the Internet

ISOC Liberia Chapter showed its support for gender and ICT policy advocacy for the empowerment of girls and young women in Liberia during a two-day event marking the International Girls in ICT Day on 26 April. This is the first time the event has been celebrated in Liberia, and it centred around the theme of Unleashing the Power of Girls and Young Women through ICT/Internet.
