Business Intelligent - Here I come

This year, I start to explore new things. One of those is Business Intelligent tool/platform. Although my interest is still software security and I've took the path to be one of well known software security expert, but, since I'm working with a very dynamic agencies, I had to learn lots of new things. It is a bit of burden to me, but it wont stop me from exploring. After all, I do love adventures.

So, BI is what business people sees. It is an advanced tool compare to Decision Support System (DSS), Emergency Support System (ESS - main EU project lead by Israelis company scheduled to release in 2013), Command Center, etc. To business people, having BI as their system is a forte in ensuring their survival. To me, it is just a tool showing lots of charts and data to support decision maker in making decision for their business. It has its own database, known as Data Warehousing (DWH), which is set of data derived from the process of data mining through multiple sources and various ways and techniques.

With my expertise, I was expected to produce an intelligent and secure BI platform. I've done some reading and research on this. There are few strong OSS BI platfrom, such as Pentaho, SpagoBI, BIRT, etc. No doubt, there are commercial BI lead by IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, etc too. All of those BI are well established BI. Strong in certain areas, equally on certain areas. But, there are still loop-holes which I found and will try to address it. Of course, I won't be able to work on commercial BI, and will not start from scratch. Right now, I'm looking at Pentaho and SpagoBI, and will choose one as my baseline to start with. So guys, watch it out.for the first release here :)
